Jiangmen is China's premier hometown of overseas Chinese. The Jiangmen Museum, also known as the Jiangmen Wuyi Overseas Chinese Museum, vividly showcases the cultural relics and historical stories of overseas Chinese utilizing modern technology and suitable settings.
The museum manages four notable sites: Chen Baisha Memorial Hall, the China Qiaodu Museum of Overseas Chinese, the Diaotai Former Residence of Chen Baisha and the Former Site of Xinning Railway North Street Station.
Chen Baisha (1428-1500), born in Jiangmen, was one of China's well-known Confucian scholars, poets and calligraphers during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Inside the Chen Baisha Memorial Hall, there are numerous stone inscriptions from the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, along with Chen Baisha's calligraphy woodcuts, holding significant historical and cultural value.
The China Qiaodu Museum of Overseas Chinese houses a collection of over 40,000 artifacts. These precious relics vividly reflect the arduous yet remarkable entrepreneurial journey of overseas Chinese from Jiangmen and their profound cultural heritage.
Since its establishment in May 1985, the museum has hosted over 200 exhibitions – including The History of Jiangmen Overseas Chinese, The Life and Achievements of Chen Baisha and The History of the Xinning Railway.
