The high-quality development of the ginseng industry has become a hot topic at the ongoing provincial two sessions in Northeast China's Jilin province. Zhao Daqing, a member of the CPPCC Jilin Committee and a researcher at the Jilin Ginseng Academy of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, believes that comparative studies on wild ginseng grown in forests and cultivated ginseng, as well as the clinical application and efficacy mechanisms of ginseng, are necessary to clarify why wild ginseng is superior.
The goal is to realize the commercialization of ginseng health products in the province by attracting leading enterprises from within and outside Jilin to participate in the entire industrial chain and utilizing large pharmaceutical companies' marketing networks, brand strength, capital support, and innovative resources. This will promote the ginseng industry's standardized, scaled, and international development.
Xiang Hongyu, a deputy to the Jilin People's Congress and the dean of the Institute of Changbai Mountain Resource and Health at Jilin University, suggested strengthening the scientific protection and sustainable utilization of ginseng resources.
He also proposed focusing on ginseng extraction technology, supplemented by microbial transformation technology, to develop ginseng anti-aging products and health beverages such as herbal tea and wine.
