Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, situated at the northeastern tip of Xiamen Island, is a significant regional aviation hub in East China.

Since its opening in 1983, the airport has steadily grown into a crucial aviation center along China's southeastern coast.

Currently, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is classified as a 4E-grade airport, featuring two terminals (T3 and T4), a 3,400-meter-long runway, two parallel taxiways, and 10 connecting taxiways capable of accommodating large aircraft such as the B747-8. The apron covers a total area of 800,000 square meters and includes 96 aircraft stands. The airport is a base for Xiamen Airlines, Shandong Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Spring Airlines.The growth of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport has been remarkable. In 2010, it entered the ranks of the world's top 100 airports for the first time. In 2014, it handled over 20 million passengers.

The airport's passenger throughput grew from 1 million to 10 million in 19 years and from 10 million to 20 million in just 5 years. Surpassing the 20 million annual passenger mark signifies a new historic leap in the airport's operational scale and capacity, highlighting the robust vitality and comprehensive strength of Xiamen's urban economy.

Today, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport boasts an extensive route network covering major cities across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It connects Southeast and Northeast Asia and reaches Europe, America, and Oceania Australia. The airport maintains flights to 118 airports in 112 cities, with 161 routes, making it a vital gateway for Xiamen's interaction with the world.
