The Baishuiyang–Yuanyangxi Tourist Area, located in the northeastern part of Pingnan county in Ningde, Fujian province, is a renowned destination celebrated for its natural beauty and unique geological features.

Recognized as a Global Geopark, a National Scenic Area, and a National 5A Tourist Attraction, it is also the only place in China known as the "Hometown of Mandarin Ducks". This comprehensive tourist area offers a full range of services, including dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.

Baishuiyang, often referred to as a "unique spectacle" and "a wonder of the world", is the world's only "shallow water square". This extraordinary feature consists of a flat riverbed stretching approximately 2 kilometers in length and up to 182 meters in width. The riverbed is a single, smooth rock with evenly distributed water and no sand or gravel. Visitors can walk on the riverbed with water reaching only up to their ankles, creating a dazzling, sunlit expanse.

The water is shallow, crystal-clear and cool, offering visitors of all ages an ideal place to hang out, especially in summer. All kinds of water activities, including surfing, drifting, tug of war and racing, are available there. The scenery around Baishuiyang is spectacular, featuring green mountains and oddly shaped stones.

Yuanyangxi, known as a "sanctuary for lovers" and the "hometown of mandarin ducks", is located downstream from Baishuiyang. It is renowned for its numerous waterfalls, including the breathtaking Baizhangji and Xianrenji waterfalls, which exceed 100 meters in height.

Every year, thousands of mandarin ducks migrate from the north to winter here. The region boasts dense forests, deep gorges, and a variety of natural wonders such as peculiar rocks, mystical caves, and ancient paths. It is also home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including Chinese macaques and over 10 nationally protected species like white storks, clouded leopards, pythons, and pangolins.

The Baishuiyang–Yuanyangxi Tourist Area seamlessly blends natural splendor with cultural heritage, making it a paradise for water activities, a haven for mandarin ducks and macaques, a prime spot for waterfall viewing, and an excellent destination for adventure and sightseeing.
