A cargo charter flight loaded with approximately 24 metric tons of supplies for the earthquake-stricken Xizang autonomous region departed from Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei province, around noon on Thursday, according to Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport.
The supplies mainly consisted of leather coats and cotton blankets, considering the region's freezing winter weather. Additional supplies will continue to be transported from the airport to Xizang.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Dingri county of Shigatse on Tuesday morning. In the wake of the quake, the country has launched a comprehensive and rapid response to ensure the timely delivery of aid.
In Hebei, upon receiving the transportation task, the airport swiftly established a green channel for cargo logistics, arranging for the supplies to undergo inspections in advance to ensure a smooth loading process.
