The ever-evolving views at Lushan Mountain, a famed tourist destination in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province, have always caught the eyes and hearts of painters.

Recently, a group of 35 oil painters from across the country traveled to the city and Lushan where they sketched dozens of works in a week. The subjects of their pieces include noted spots such as the Pipa Pavilion, Guanyin Bridge and Bailudong Academy.

The history of Jiujiang can be traced back 2,000 years, famous for its majestic natural scenery.

At Lushan Mountain, pine trees are a recurring theme in the painters' creations.

Wu Changjiang, a member of the painters' group and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, says he was fascinated by the sound of the blowing wind through the pines.

He says the sunlight, rain, geographic features and other natural elements have influenced pine trees to grow into different shapes and, in these trees, artists have felt the magic of nature and leveraged it as a symbol of morality and spirit.

The works — 160 in total — will be on show at a new gallery in Jiujiang Art Museum, which will open soon.
