Qiao's Family Compound Cultural Park in North China's Shanxi province was recently awarded the "International Cooperation and Construction Base" title at the 2024 World Research Travel Conference held in Penang, Malaysia.
As one of the official events marking the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations, the conference explored various topics focusing on cross-cultural exchange and sustainable development of the international research travel industry.
The World Research Travel Organization Expert Committee awarded Qiao's Family Compound Cultural Park and three other research institutions the title based on six criteria: the uniqueness of research themes, industry innovation, mentor professionalism, frequency of activities, continuous market promotion, and domestic and international influence. Qiao's Family Compound Cultural Park is the only institution in the province to receive this honor.
The research base at Qiao's Family Compound Cultural Park focuses on inheriting the spirit of Shanxi merchants and promoting traditional culture. It covers architecture, financial education, traditional crafts, folk culture, and relic preservation.
The research base's features are reflected in four aspects: historical and cultural education, traditional craft experience, popularization of natural and ecological science, and smart interactive experiences. Participants can experience Shanxi merchants' business and family management, and engage in traditional crafts such as paper-cutting and shadow puppetry.
With the honor of "International Cooperation and Construction Base", Qiao's Family Compound Cultural Park will continuously enrich research education content, optimize research experiences, and promote the integration of culture and tourism. This will allow visitors from around the world to experience the charm of this century-old mansion and the profound cultural heritage of Shanxi merchants.
