Jilin aims to build G331 border tourism corridor into new cultural tourism brand

At the fifth Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, G331's Border Tourism Corridor was highlighted as a key initiative to boost development along the border.

With a focus on innovation in institutional mechanisms, the province plans to turn the G331 national highway into a new cultural and tourism brand.

Sun Guangzhi, director of Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, told attendees that the G331 corridor was a strategic move to enhance the region's development, strengthen border stability and showcase China's border openness.

The 1,314 kilometer-long route connects 10 border counties and falls under the purview of the Changbai Mountain Protection Development Management Committee.

The G331 corridor will be positioned as a "National Border No 1 Scenic Route" and a world-class tourism economic corridor.

It is said to be rich in red tourism resources, historical landmarks and diverse ecological attractions such as Changbai Mountain Global Geopark and several national parks.

Overall, Jilin province is committing itself to deepening the integration of culture, tourism, agriculture, commerce and sports along the G331. Key initiatives include the creation of immersive tourism complexes, the promotion of local agricultural products and infrastructure upgrades like rest stops and observation decks along the route.

The project also aims to create a special tourism experience by developing cultural villages and border-specific tourism products.
