A strategic framework agreement has been signed between Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub, International Road Transport Co affiliated with Sichuan Port and Shipping Investment Group, and the Khorgos Economic Development Zone Investment Promotion Service Center.
Under the agreement, the three parties will use their respective strengths to establish a national logistics hub frontier warehouse at Khorgos, which will focus on automobile import and export, warehousing, sorting, and distribution services.
According to Zhang Yang, general manager of the Guoyuan Port National Logistics Hub, the frontier warehouse is an innovative attempt at boosting overseas exports of Chongqing cars.
It aims to significantly reduce customs clearance times, improve foreign trade export efficiency, lower logistics costs, and promote the coordinated development of the automotive and logistics industries across the three regions and their surrounding areas, forming a comprehensive vehicle logistics network that serves the entire country and targets Central and Western Asia.
In the first eight months of this year, Chongqing exported 307,000 vehicles, a 32 percent increase compared to the same period last year, with a total value of 27.72 billion yuan ($3.90 billion), up 36.7 percent.
The three parties are planning to deepen cooperation in various areas, exploring a logistics service model that combines inland bonded warehouses, frontier warehouses, and overseas warehouses.
