Shimei Bay is located 12 kilometers away from the Xinglong Overseas Chinese Tourist Economic Zone in Wanning city, Hainan province. Situated at 110.5 degrees east longitude and 18.5 degrees north latitude, Shimei Bay enjoys a favorable geographical location and plays a central role in transportation and communication, which establishes it as the principal tourism center of the southeastern coastline of Hainan province.

Shimei Bay boasts six major natural resources: Mountains, sea, lakes, forests, streams and islands. The bay, located on the eastern coast of Wanning city in Hainan province, features a six-kilometer-long stretch of crystal clear sea and pristine sand. By the beach is a dense Green Bark forest that ensures Shimei Bay remains cool in summer and mild in winter. The excellent air quality and evergreen scenery make it an ideal travel and vacation destination for visitors all year-round.

Around the 30 square kilometers centered on Shimei Bay are several developed and developing tourist areas, including the Hainan Xinglong Overseas Chinese National Forest Park, Xinglong Hot Springs, Xinglong Tropical Garden, Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden, Taiyang River, Shenzhou Peninsula, Dazhou Island, Riyue Bay, Capital Outlets in Wanning, Xinglong National Greenway, Yongfan Flower Sea, Xinglong Bougainvillea Park, and Yangmei Bay. Shimei Bay is also designated as a central station in the planned Hainan East Line fiber optic communication system.
