Jilin city – the second-largest city in Jilin province – hosted a news conference on Jilin's Comprehensive Revitalization on July 4.

Recognized as a National Historical and Cultural City and an Excellent Chinese Tourism City, Jilin city continued to thrive.

In 2023, the city's GDP grew by 6.7 percent, while in the first quarter of this year it increased by 7.3 percent, maintaining a positive trend.

The city's goal was to develop what was described as "One Center, Four Bases."

The term One Center refers to its aim to create a provincial sub-center with integrated functions and a blend of industries and urban-rural vitalization.

Meanwhile, the Four Bases term is all about establishing a first-class national chemical industry base, a world-class carbon fiber industry base, a world-class ice and snow industry base and a national-level clean energy base.

One example of the progress being made is CNPC Jilin Petrochemical Co's upgrade, progressing rapidly with a total investment of 33.9 billion yuan ($4.66 billion). It's the biggest industrial investment in Jilin province currently and is the first project of parent company PetroChina that is being entirely powered by green electricity, marking a new chapter for Jilin city's chemical industry.

Known as the City of Rime and Skiing Paradise, Jilin city boasts world-class powder snow comparable to the Alps and the Rockies. It is home to the largest ski resort in Asia – the Beidahu Ski Resort – and the award-winning Lake Songhua Resort.

Jilin city was committed to developing a "world-class ice and snow industry base" and to becoming "China's Northern Leisure Tourism Destination".
