Hohhot signs up 72 projects to boost six major industries

The Hohhot Development and Reform Commission – in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – has reported making significant progress this year, focusing on building key national bases for energy, strategic resources and agricultural products.

Hohhot is targeting six major industry clusters, enhancing the integration of technological and industrial innovation and attracting projects to extend and strengthen its industry supply chains.

Its green agricultural and livestock product processing industry cluster has already signed up 26 new projects worth 6.2 billion yuan ($856 million).

Notable projects include the Ruijian 13,000-head dairy farm and the Mengkang Foster Care Service Center, with 70 cumulative projects – such as high-standard farmland construction in Yuquan district – now under construction.

In the clean energy industry cluster, 17 new projects have been signed, with a total investment of 16.26 billion yuan. Key projects include the Hohhot Hui District Vehicle Trading New Energy Vehicle Fast Charging Pile and Battery Swap Station (Phase II), the Horinger Data Center Cluster Green Energy Supply Demonstration Project (Wind Power) and the Canadian Solar 220 kilovolt Substation Project.

Elsewhere, the new materials and equipment manufacturing industry cluster has signed 16 new projects, totaling 44.99 billion yuan.

Key new projects include the Zhonghuan 20 gigawatt Photovoltaic Tiling Module Project and the Inner Mongolia Runya Sodium Battery New Energy Co 6 GWh Sodium-ion Cell Manufacturing Project – bringing the cumulative total to 70 projects now underway.

The biopharmaceuticals industry cluster has signed three new projects worth 140 million yuan, including the Inner Mongolia Jindawei Pharmaceutical Co's production projects, with a total 19 projects under construction.

The electronic information technology industry cluster has signed 10 new projects, totaling 42.5 billion yuan, taking it to 44 projects now underway.

Last, but not least, the modern chemicals industry cluster is advancing with projects that include a plant to produce 15,000 metric tons of high-purity nitrogen trifluoride annually.
