The Chinese traditional intangible cultural heritage of Lu silk, which originated in Gaoping in the city of Jincheng, North China's Shanxi province, won the title sponsor Le Bal des Débutantes, also known as the Crillon Ball, at the Taihu World Cultural Forum on May 30.

As one of the world's top celebrity balls, Le Bal des Débutantes is not only a media event that gathers celebrities from around the world, but also a fashion extravaganza aimed at giving to charity. The entry of the Chinese intangible cultural heritage into the top social event in France will play an important role in promoting cultural exchanges between China, France, and Europe as a whole.

Lu silk, named after Lu An Mansion, has existed for 5,000 years and become an important part of Chinese silk culture. The patterns are complex, the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the printing, dyeing and coloring bear the uniqueness of northern aesthetics. In November 2014, the weaving technique of Lu silk was included in the "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" list.

"It's not enough to bring Lu silk products to the world only through craftsmanship and skills. It also should further highlight Chinese cultures," said Wang Shuqin, chairman of Lu Silk Group.

In addition, Yu Shan, a Chinese fahua craftsman, presented fahua handicrafts to Ophélie Renouard, the founder of the Le Bal des Débutantes. Originating in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), fahua is a low-temperature colored glazed ceramic vessel, and it is regarded as a treasure by major international museums.
