The zigzagging Ninggang Road in the mountains of Ningchang township, Chongqing's Wuxi county, has gone viral online recently and attracted many drivers looking for an adventurous driving experience.

The 13.1-kilometer road, with a vertical climb of more than 1,100 meters and an average gradient of 13.5 percent, boasts 106 hairpin turns. It weaves its way through the steep, isolated mountains in Wuxi.

Wuxi is at the conjunction of Shaanxi and Hubei provinces and the Chongqing municipality. Thanks to its rugged terrain, it held significant strategic importance in ancient times. It has natural barriers, with the Yangtze River to the south and the Bama Mountains to the north.

Experts from China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co recently confirmed that the road surpasses the famous Qinglong 24-zig in Guizhou province and the Nujiang 72-zig in the Xizang autonomous region.

After professional instrument testing, the institute found the road's gradient, elevation difference and turns to be more impressive than those of a road on Anhui's Huangshan Mountain, which is used for automotive brake testing, and the Alpine roads in Europe, which serve as international standards.

Experts warn amateur drivers not to underestimate the road, which poses a challenge to vehicle performance and driving skills.

The institute said it will create a professional track for testing the extreme performance of offroad vehicles.
