During the eighth China-Russia Expo and the 33rd Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair, which concluded on Tuesday in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, more than 8,000 inbound and outbound passengers and more than 90 inbound and outbound flights were inspected at Harbin Taiping International Airport.

The numbers reflect a year-on-year increase of 88 percent, according to the Harbin immigration border inspection station.

The station used all inbound and outbound waiting areas to accommodate the large flow of passengers, with several hundred clearing customs in less than half an hour.

To respond to the increased flow of passengers at the port, the station deployed police forces and established special channels for the events.

It also assigned officers to facilitate transit and temporary entry permit processing for travelers applying for 24-hour or 72-hour visa-free status, facilitating smooth customs clearances for exhibitors and visitors.

Immigration police officers maintained their posts 24 hours a day to ensure efficient customs clearances and engaged in multiple discussions and exchanges with the airport, Harbin Customs and the airlines to provide service guarantees for the events.

They coordinated flight information sharing, collaborated on investigations, provided seamless support and obtained dynamic flight information and passenger numbers to ensure a cohesive and harmonious working atmosphere.

Before the peak passenger arrival period, all verification channels were fully staffed to prevent congestion. Port security measures also supported the events.
