North China's Shanxi province recently released a plan for cultivating famous online brands in the province, setting goals of building up 10 promising online brands and exceeding 150 billion yuan ($20.73 billion) in online retail sales by the end of 2026.

According to the plan, Shanxi will work to fully achieve the integrated development of industries and e-commerce, and work to increase the influence of the province's highest-quality products both at home and abroad through the cultivation of online brands, fostering brand entities, building new e-commerce business formats, promoting online brands and introducing e-commerce to rural areas.

Specifically, to foster brand entities, the province will continue to cultivate e-commerce talent and strengthen support for project funding. To promote its online brands, it will carry out various promotional activities online, strengthen the development of online sales zones, and integrate online and offline sales to expand consumption scenarios.

Meanwhile, the province will work to enhance the capacity of provincial live-streaming e-commerce bases, invite top internet celebrity teams to sell products via live-streaming, and actively cultivate new short-video sales formats so as to develop new ways of engaging in e-commerce.

Furthermore, the province will introduce e-commerce to rural areas to support rural vitalization by strengthening product research and development in e-commerce towns, reducing logistics costs and promoting the formation of county-level commercial systems.
