Jilin province has achieved a significant milestone, becoming the national leader in the number of science and technology backyards. It has a total of 105 such projects, according to the Jilin Provincial Association for Science and Technology.

These sci-tech backyards, approved by the China Rural Special Technology Association, are spread across 14 universities and research institutions. They cover a wide range of industries, including corn, rice, coarse grains, beef cattle, sheep, black pigs, ginseng, sika deer, small berries, and edible mushrooms. Impressively, 28 of these backyards are located in border areas, enhancing the implementation of the frontier development strategy in regions like Tonghua, Baishan, and Yanbian.

The backyards adopt a problem-oriented, bottom-up approach to agricultural technology promotion. This has significantly improved the efficiency of technology transfer and application. There are a total of 167 experts and 227 resident graduate students working in these backyards. Collectively, they have written 3,029 logs, promoted 154 new agricultural varieties and technologies, and published 177 academic papers. They also actively engaged in agricultural technology popularization activities, having conducted 761 training sessions, released 485 articles and short videos, and hosted more than 1,000 study tours involving over 20,000 participants. These efforts have benefited over 30,000 farmers.

The success of these backyards has been widely recognized. Six backyards and four resident graduate students have been honored with titles such as "Top 10 Backyards", "Most Beautiful Backyards", and "Most Beautiful Graduate Students" by the China Rural Special Technology Association.
