A press conference was held in Beijing on April 10 regarding the primary venue for this year's International Museum Day (May 18) celebrations in China.

The main event will take place at the Qin-Han Civilization Museum, a new branch of the Shaanxi History Museum, located in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, from May 17 to 19.

Centered on the theme "Museums: The Heart of Education and Research", the event aims to showcase the latest achievements in China's museum industry development. It is also set to further strengthen the bridge of communication between museums and the public.

China officially joined the International Council of Museums in 1983, and since then it has organized activities to celebrate International Museum Day.

The opening ceremony of this event will feature a series of significant announcements, including the release data regarding the development of China's museum industry in 2023, the unveiling of the fifth batch of national first-class museums, and the announcement of the top 10 exhibition masterpieces in China.

On May 18, the Qin-Han Civilization Museum will also debut a series of major exhibitions, along with a main forum, a youth forum, a curator forum, and an international academic seminar on civilization during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) and Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220).

In addition to the main venue activities, various museums and memorial halls across Shaanxi will organize a range of distinctive and exciting exhibitions, academic seminars, social education programs, and public entertainment events.
