The City News Service (CNS), an English information portal about Shanghai, recently convened a conference in the Minhang area of Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District to discuss how Shanghai’s international communities can better serve foreign residents.

During the event, the establishment of the Shanghai International Community Foreign Information Service Alliance was announced with the objective of raising Shanghai's foreign service standards, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for expatriates in Shanghai, and contributing to the development of Shanghai as a globally connected and vibrant metropolis, with the highest number of foreign residents in China.

The Shanghai International Community Foreign Information Service alliance is comprised of nine subdistricts and towns, which currently host around 95,000 expatriates within their international communities.

Through the alliance, CNS is set to collaborate with Shanghai's international communities to heighten overall foreign service capabilities. This is poised to involve organizing diverse offline activities, establishing a continuous research cooperation mechanism, and providing professional training to enhance the quality of social workers serving foreign residents. The goal is to facilitate a deeper integration of foreign residents into Shanghai's communities.

CNS, founded in 2022, focuses on practical information such as policy interpretation, government services, and life guides tailored to the needs of expatriates in Shanghai. By empowering international communities like Huacao town in Minhang, they aim to broaden international communication channels and enrich cultural experiences for expatriates through various activities and services.
