Jilin welcomes surging tourist numbers during May Day holiday

Tourism data for Jilin province has revealed a significant surge in tourist arrivals during the May Day holiday, with out-of-province tourists accounting for 39 percent of the total visitors from May 1 to 3. This marks a notable 20-percentage-point increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The increase in tourist numbers was particularly pronounced across various key attractions in the province. The Changbai Mountain Scenic Area saw an impressive 233 percent year-on-year growth in visitors, reflecting a strong interest in nature-based tourism. Meanwhile, Changchun Botanical Garden experienced a 155 percent foot traffic surge, showcasing the appeal of botanical attractions. The Beishan Scenic Area in Jilin city welcomed a 215 percent increase in tourist visits, highlighting the diverse range of attractions across the province.

Other notable increases include the Yanji Mao'ershan (Dinosaur) Cultural Tourism Area with a 74 percent rise in visitors, Koguryo Kingdom Relics Park recording a 60 percent growth, and the Jingyuetan Scenic Area observing a 59 percent increase. The Liudingshan Cultural Tourism Area and Museum of the Imperial Palace of "Manchukuo" also saw substantial visitor increases of 52 percent and 20 percent, respectively. The Changchun Film Studio Museum witnessed a 35 percent rise, showcasing the public's interest in cultural and historical sites.

Additionally, special events and enhancements at attractions like Chagan Lake and Dongbei Buyecheng (Sleepless Northeast) in Meihekou contributed to a 97 percent and 45 percent increase in tourist numbers, respectively.
