During the May Day holiday on May 1-5, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region received 15.02 million domestic tourist visits, marking a 1.36-fold increase from 2023.

Of the total visitors, the majority came from Hebei, Shanxi, Gansu and Liaoning provinces, as well as Beijing.

Meanwhile, the tourism revenue generated during this period reached 10.64 billion yuan ($1.46 billion), representing a remarkable 1.77-fold rise from the previous year.

Throughout the holiday period, Inner Mongolia's cultural and tourism market continuously expanded its product offerings, effectively stimulating the holiday economy.

New forms of tourism have contributed to this spike. This includes camping tours, self-drive tours, educational tours, and wellness tours.

Many leagues and cities in the region also optimized their public transportation schedules and routes in order to ensure safe passage for visitors.

Additionally, several cultural and tourism projects in Inner Mongolia saw steep rises in foot traffic during this period. Notably, attractions like the Juungar Yellow River Grand Canyon Scenic Area and the Bayannuur Wuyuan Persimmon Cultural Tourism Season site garnered attention from national media outlets, showcasing the region's diverse and captivating offerings.
