The new energy installed capacity in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region recently surpassed 100 million kilowatts, making it the first in China to achieve this milestone.

This new benchmark was reached after the grid connection and power generation of several projects in the region on March 31.

Among the projects were the 1-million-kilowatt wind power storage project in Siziwang Banner, and the second and third phases of the Three Gorges Ulanqab New Generation Grid-Friendly Green Power Station Demonstration Project.

The region's installed capacity will generate 230 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, which is equivalent to saving 70 million metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 190 million tons. This achievement holds great significance in driving the transformation and upgrading of the region's energy structure, introduced the person in charge of Inner Mongolia autonomous region's energy bureau.

Since 2023, the energy bureau in Inner Mongolia has been committed to advancing new energy construction, focusing on improving the quality and efficiency of project advancement and scheduling. They have successfully accelerated the construction of power grids, streamlined approval procedures, and promoted the synchronous planning, construction, and commissioning of power grids and power generation projects.

This year, Inner Mongolia will expedite the implementation of sand prevention and control projects, integrated wind and photovoltaic power projects, new energy heating projects, and energy technology projects.

Efforts will also be concentrated on advancing the construction of four large-scale wind and photovoltaic power bases in the Kubuqi Desert, aiming to add 40 million kilowatts of new energy installed capacity.

The region's goal is to surpass 135 million kilowatts in new energy installed capacity by the end of the year.
