North China's Shanxi province has seen its installed capacity of wind and solar energy surpass 50 million kilowatts, reaching 50.93 million kW by the end of January, according to State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Co.

This accounts for 38.18 percent of the total installed power capacity in the province, with the installed capacity of wind power reaching 25.03 million kW, and the installed capacity of solar power reaching 25.90 million kW.

Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the province has witnessed an annual average growth rate of 14.98 percent in its wind and solar energy installed capacity.

To bolster the integration and utilization of new energy, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Co is swiftly advancing the establishment of new energy collection stations. It plans to construct twelve 500-kilovolt stations and four 220-kV stations by 2025.

Furthermore, Shanxi has continually increased the proportion of new energy electricity in its outbound power transmission.

In 2023, the total outbound electricity in Shanxi reached a new high of 157.6 billion kilowatt-hours, with new energy electricity reaching 9.59 billion kWh – up 14.95 percent year-on-year.

Currently, the utilization rate of new energy in the province has been maintained at over 97 percent.
