Jilin skater clinches men's 1,500m open group championship

In the finals of the men's 1,500m open group skating event, renowned athlete Sun Long from Northeast China's Jilin province claimed victory with a time of 2 minutes and 12.116 seconds on Feb 16.

The short track speed skating competition of the 14th National Winter Games commenced in Hulunbuir, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on the day. The men's 1500m open group event boasted a star-studded lineup with athletes like Sun Long, Lin Xiaoran, Liu Shaoang and Li Wenlong smoothly advancing to the A group finals.

During the day's competitions, Zhang Chutong from Jilin province and the Jilin team led by Wu Dajing secured silver medals in the women's 1,500m open group and the 2,000m mixed team relay finals, respectively.

To top it off, in the 2,000m mixed team relay final, athletes jointly trained in Jilin – An Kai, Li Wenlong and Yu Songnan – contributed another gold medal to the province's tally. In other events, Jilin province athlete Meng Fanqi once again secured a silver medal in the women's 10km pursuit race in the open group of the winter biathlon.

The victories in the various events was declared to not only demonstrate the prowess of Jilin athletes, but also reflect the dedication and support provided by the sports community in the province.
