Shanxi to enact standards for carbon emission management

Shanxi province will implement two local carbon emission management standards starting from April 3. 

The two are namely the "Guidelines for the Construction of a Carbon Emission Management System for Key Industry Enterprises" and the "General Principles for the Evaluation of a Carbon Emission Management System for Key Industry Enterprises".

The former includes guidelines for the establishment of management institutions, the formulation of carbon emission management policies, the development of carbon emission management plans, and the construction of a support mechanism. It will apply to the construction of carbon emission management systems for key industry enterprises in sectors such as power, chemicals, steel, cement, non-ferrous metals, coking, and coal.

The latter specifies the principles and basis for the evaluation of carbon emission management systems in key industry enterprises. It also focuses on the implementation of evaluation methods, and the application of evaluation results.

These new standards will fill the gap in Shanxi's enterprise carbon emission management system. They will play an important role in improving the province's green and low-carbon standard system, and will guide key industry enterprises to practice the concept of green and low-carbon development.
