Satellite industrial chain takes shape in Jinan

In recent years, Jinan Innovation Zone in Jinan has achieved remarkable progress in developing the satellite industry, marking a significant milestone for the city leadership in its pursuit of future industries.

Since 2021, the innovation zone has strategically positioned itself in the vital areas of commercial aerospace, including communications, navigation, and remote sensing. It boasts over 60 enterprises in the aerospace industry, with a collective revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion). This burgeoning "aerospace force" is propelling Jinan towards a new industrial frontier.

In line with its ambitious goals, Jinan Innovation Zone has formulated a comprehensive plan for the aerospace industry, focusing on the critical aspects of the industrial chain, from satellite platform and payload development to satellite assembly, testing and satellite operations. This strategic approach has laid the foundation for the preliminary formation of a complete satellite industrial chain within the zone.

Major players such as the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation have established several enterprises in the zone. Said enterprises are involved in the development and operation of the integrated service cloud platform of Beidou smart vehicle networking, which has already connected over 320,000 vehicles, making it one of the largest Beidou vehicle networking platforms in China.

Leveraging the advantages of Jinan’s role as the pilot financial reform zone for scientific and technological innovation, the innovation zone is exploring a new financial approach to drive technological innovation and attract capital, thereby paving the way for the development of a distinct aerospace industry.
