Shanxi exports benefit from RCEP

"Most of our company's clothing products are sold to Japan. Taiyuan Customs helped us obtain the appropriate certificate of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), allowing our exports to enjoy the full benefits of tariff reductions," said Yan Pan, the person in charge of a clothing company in Shanxi on Jan 30. 

In 2023, the number of RCEP certificates issued by Taiyuan Customs for the company increased by more than 40 percent, resulting in about 490,000 yuan ($68,396.40) in tariff concessions.

Over the two years since the RCEP came into effect, Shanxi has seen the most significant benefits in the chemical, mechanical manufacturing, and specialty agricultural processing industries. Export-oriented enterprises in Shanxi have shown a continued enthusiasm for RCEP certification, leading to accelerated growth in export trade. 

By the end of 2023, Taiyuan Customs had issued 2,932 RCEP certificates of origin, with exports worth 1.06 billion yuan benefiting from tariff reductions.
