Xi'an cultural tourism soars to new heights

This year, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has continued to create new scenarios, business formats, and products for its cultural tourism sector.

This stimulated new consumption vitality, and achieved remarkable results in the high-quality development of Xi'an's cultural tourism industry.

From January to November, the city's key cultural tourism projects completed an investment of 18.28 billion yuan ($2.58 billion), accounting for 99.6 percent of the annual planned investment.

Throughout the year, Xi'an added nine new national 3A-level or above scenic spots, including the Qinling National Botanical Garden, Shijingli Town, and the Yisu Theater Cultural Block.

Efforts to enrich people's cultural lives have been made, with an additional 50 million yuan designated for cultural awards and subsidy funds. The city also organized for an additional 1,000 opera performances to be staged in rural areas.

Currently, there are 98,900 cultural tourism-related enterprises in the country. Xi'an ranks among the top 10 cities in the country in terms of the number of such enterprises of 1,600.

Since the 2023 Spring Festival, Xi'an's popularity has continued to rise, and it has long been ranked among the top 10 popular destination cities in the country.

This year, the number of orders in summer holiday destined for Xi'an increased by 164 percent year-on-year, and museum ticket sales in Xi'an increased by 279 percent month-on-month.

Looking towards the future, Xi'an will continue to deepen and broaden the integrated development path of its culture and tourism industries, which will inject new momentum and vitality into the city's high-quality economic development.
