Genhe city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region ushered in the passionate opening of its ice and snow tourism season on Dec 24.

At 10 am, the cultural exhibition event of the Ewenki ethnic group kicked off with enthusiastic song and dance performances.

With vibrant square dances, ice sports demonstrations, exhibitions of northern Chinese ethnic costumes, bonfire dances, ice hockey, snowmobile rides, and more, the event showcased Genhe's unique charm.

The culinary delights of the extreme cold also took center stage, where scorching hot cuisine collided with the frigid temperatures.

Around 10:30 am, as the starting gun sounded, the 10th China Cold Pole Marathon began in the freezing conditions of -35 degrees Celsius—nearly 1,000 marathon enthusiasts worldwide, filled with passion.

The event consisted of a half marathon (21.08 kilometers) and a 5-kilometer fun run, catering not only to the demands of professional athletes but also to the diverse and multi-level needs of the general public for sports and physical activities.

At 7 pm, the 2023 National Winter "Village Evening" Gala commenced, featuring over 10 captivating performances showcasing the new era's charm in Genhe.

It is introduced that this year's ice and snow tourism season will continue until April 2024.

During this period, visitors from all over the country can embark on a "Frozen Wonderland" journey and indulge in the joy of ice and snow in China's coldest city, Genhe.
