International lighting fair in Guangdong attracts global buyers

An international lighting fair kicked off in Guzhen town of Zhongshan, Guangdong province, known as China's lighting capital, on Sunday, attracting more than 6,000 registered overseas buyers from over 150 countries and regions.

The 29th China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair, with an exhibition area of more than 1.5 million square meters, displayed latest innovating lighting products and services from over 3,300 companies, according to the organizers.

Products in the fair's main venue cover the entire lighting industrial chain with fine subcategories, ranging from smart, decorative, residential, commercial, outdoor and cultural tourism lighting to special lamp and equipment accessories.

Additionally, 14 lighting industrial projects, focusing on artificial intelligent and internet-connected manufacturing, were also signed during the opening ceremony of the lighting fair.

Guzhen, where over 28,000 lighting related enterprises are based, produces lighting products worth of trillions of US dollars annually, which take up 70 percent of China's lighting market.

According to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the operating income of China's lighting enterprises above designated size reached 235.79 billion yuan ($32.24 billion) from January to August, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4 percent.

Despite of a slight decrease of approximately 7 percent in the first eight months in exports compared to the same period last year, China's lighting industry achieved a profit of 11.85 billion yuan, showing a growth of 9.7 percent year-on-year.
