North China's Shanxi province has ranked among the top 10 Chinese tourist destinations for the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday with the most rapid growth in popularity.
In response to a possible surge in tourists over the upcoming holiday, the province has taken measures to ensure the safety and orderliness of the holiday tourism market.
Shanxi has been comprehensively promoting corrective action in terms of market operation, passenger transportation, market prices, and surrounding tourist attractions. Out of 102 network public opinion and related issues distributed across various cities, 90 have already been addressed.
Focusing on the management of tourism traffic and the environment, the Traffic Police Detachment of the Shanxi Public Security Department has conducted comprehensive inspections on sections of highways with speed limits lower than 80 kilometers per hour, as well as on the distribution of speeding violation checkpoints and approval records and further optimized the management of speed limits on highways throughout the province.
As for the management of tourism accommodation, the Shanxi Department of Commerce has provided financial subsidies to newly established accommodation and catering businesses. The Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism has organized training courses to enhance the service quality of personnel in star-rated hotels and graded tourist accommodations across the province, strengthening their awareness of the importance of providing quality services.
In addition, Shanxi has increased the supply of high-quality tourism products during the holiday season and expanded night tours in scenic areas, countryside homestay experiences, leisure vacations, and culinary tourism. The province has prepared a travel guide for tourists visiting Shanxi and launched travel routes revolving around leisure and wellness, rural fireworks, intangible cultural heritage, and study tours.
