Cultural creative design week kicks off in Shanxi

The 2023 Shanxi Cultural Creative Design Week opened in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on Sept 8. 

Organized by the Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism, the event aims to strengthen the promotion of cultural heritage, develop the local cultural creative industry, advance the transformation and innovation of Shanxi's culture, and expand the influence of Shanxi's cultural creative design works. 

During the opening ceremony, various performances, such as themed creative dances, original song duets, and a hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) fashion show, showcased the cultural heritage and unique charm of Shanxi. The ceremony also included an awards ceremony for the 4th Shanxi Cultural Creative Design Competition. 

Over 3,000 cultural creative works from 28 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities were submitted for the competition. After they were reviewed by the organizing committee, 400 were shortlisted, including 82 outstanding works. There were four gold, 10 silver, and 17 bronze awards handed out. 

During Shanxi Cultural Creative Design Week, a series of activities will be held to promote new ways of thinking among Shanxi designers, facilitate industry exchanges and cooperation, and stimulate market cooperation. 

At the Shanxi Creative Design Jinyang Lake Summit that is due to be held on Sept 13 at the Jinyang Lake International Convention Center, for instance, experts will share ideas on such topics as "the logic of design," "digital intelligent creative design," "creative design and community building," and "creative design empowering cultural tourism."

Meanwhile, the Matchmaking Meeting on Achievements of Shanxi Cultural Creative Design Competition on Sept 15 will invite famous designers and industry insiders to provide comments and guidance on the competition works, and carry out on-site supply and demand matchmaking for institutions engaged in cultural creative product development and operation, cultural tourism investment, museum affairs, tourist attractions operation, and cultural intellectual property trading.
