The 2023 Diamond League Xiamen concluded on the evening of Sept 2 at the Xiamen Egret Stadium in the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian province.
The event brought together 151 track and field stars from nearly 40 countries and was attended by over 30,000 spectators.
The Xiamen competition witnessed the creation of four world best records this year.
Christian Coleman from the United States set a new record in the men's 100m with a time of 9.83 seconds. Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi dominated the men's 800m with a time of 1:43.20. Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh demonstrated her exceptional skills in the women's high jump, clearing a record height of 2.02m. In the women's 3000m, Beatrice Chebet from Kenya finished with a time of 8:24.05.
Notably, 10 of the 15 runners in the women's 3000m race registered personal best timings. Laura Galván of Mexico set a national record with a personal best time of 8:28.05.
Chinese athletes were also part of the limelight in certain events. For example, Feng Bin won the women's discus throw with a distance of 67.41m. Xie Zhenye finished eighth in the men's 100m with a time of 10.12 seconds.
