Xi'an rides strong recovery of exhibition industry

In the first half of the year, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, saw a strong rebound in its exhibition industry, with 249 exhibition events held, a surge of 151.52 percent compared with the same period last year.

Breaking the number down, 60 were regular exhibitions, an increase of a whopping 757.14 percent year-on-year. Then 148 were conferences, a rise of 111.43 percent, while 41 were local festivals, a gain of 86.36 percent year-on-year.

The city received several honors during the period, including the 2022 Innovative Exhibition City Award, the 2022 China's Most Influential Exhibition City Award and the 2022-2023 Charming Conference Destination City Award.

During the first half, Xi'an continued to actively build itself up as a leading Belt and Road exhibition city. It promoted its expos more than 300 times on various media platforms, raising the profile of its industry even higher.

The city also visited Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Jinan and other cities to attract exhibitions and conferences, achieving great results.

In the second half of the year, the Xi'an municipal bureau of commerce will host industry-related exhibitions, and promote venue expansion and upgrading. What's more, it will encourage innovative exhibition models and continue to optimize the exhibition business environment, to advance the development of the industry in the city.
