Night tourism has become a new attraction recently in Jishou, Hunan province, attracting many visitors from outside.

When night falls, many local residents and tourists can be seen gathering under the brilliant lights — to eat, drink, shop, enjoy the night scenes or be entertained in the city's Qianzhou ancient town — while enjoying and sensing the charm of the ancient town.

The Jishou city government in recent years has introduced measures to develop its night economy, turning the city's night fairs into a new attraction to stimulate consumption and promote the economy.

Qianzhou ancient town is a major national-level scenic spot, and its historical and cultural districts and streets are under provincial-level protection.

The ancient town was once an important inland river commercial wharf in western Hunan province because of the convenience of water transportation. It had been a political, economic, cultural and military center of the Miao ethnic region in several ancient Chinese dynasties.

To boost the tourism in recent years, the local government has developed special food streets, live-action water performances and other projects to attract tourists from around the world. Its aim is to build the city into a major tourist attraction in Central China.
