The 2023 "Everlasting China-South Asia Expo" Medical Equipment Tour Exhibition & Kunming in the Eyes of Foreign Diplomats opened in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province, on July 5.
The activity brought together diplomats of the consulates general of Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia in Kunming and business executives of 97 enterprises. It aimed to fully leverage the geographical strength of Kunming, further deepen its exchanges and cooperation with South Asian and Southeastern Asian countries, facilitate the building of a global community of health for mankind, attract more medical equipment manufacturers and high-caliber talents to Kunming, and help the city expand, shore up and consolidate its medical equipment chains.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, An Enfa, a member of the Standing Committee of Kunming Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice-mayor of Kunming, said that Kunming has firmly grasped development opportunities brought by international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its endeavor to become an international city. He added that the promotional event will attract more medical equipment manufacturers to visit Kunming and enable Chinese medical facilities to benefit from more people in South Asian and Southeastern Asian countries.
Noting that people's lives and health issues are of high concern for all countries and also a field for the international community to strengthen their cooperation, Faizal Shani, Malaysia's consul-general in Kunming, said that he is willing to consolidate cross-border medical cooperation between Malaysia and China, bolster bilateral collaboration on medical health and education, advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, and safeguard public health as well as life.
During the promotional gathering, representatives of medical equipment associations and enterprises talked about the latest development and strength of the Chinese medical equipment sector. They also held exhibitions of their products, the building of medical equipment industrial clusters, and the realization of new development approaches for Yunnan-based relevant enterprises. They shared their views toward the integrated development between Chinese medical equipment manufacturers and their counterparts in South Asian and Southeastern Asian countries, and elaborated on their proposals for the building of Chinese medical equipment industrial chains.
According to organizers, medical equipment exhibited at the promotional event will be donated to South Asian and Southeast Asian countries to improve the health conditions of the local people.
