CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, based in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, launched a new metro train set to serve the Hajj in 2023.

The train rolled off the production line at CRRC Changchun's advanced repair base of Mecca Metro in Saudi Arabia on May 19 local time.

According to Wang Changhong, manager of CRRC Changchun's Mecca Metro project in Saudi Arabia, in 2010, CRRC Changchun customized A-type aluminum alloy wide-body subway trains for the line.

The train is composed of 12 train carriages, and the passenger capacity of a single train carriage is around 5,000.

To meet the operating needs of Hajj, five doors are set on one side of each section of the train, which can quickly guide the flow of people getting on and off the train.

The train can withstand high temperatures and wind, and sand, meet the requirements for the safe operation of vehicles at a temperature of 50 C, and ensure the regular operation of vehicles under wind conditions of level 8.

In May 2022, to better meet the needs of Saudi owners for localized industrial chain construction, CRRC Changchun established the first overseas advanced repair base in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which is also the first advanced repair base for metro trains in Saudi Arabia.

The Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia in 2023 will start on June 23. In addition to providing vehicles, CRRC Changchun will provide 168 hours of uninterrupted vehicle guarantee services within seven days.
