The 17th Guizhou Tourism Industry Development Conference is being held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, from April 6 to 7.

During the conference, one investment promotion conference on Guizhou's culture and tourism industries, investment promotion activities for China's tourism stock assets, matchmaking activities for Guizhou's culture and tourism projects, and business tours for investors will be organized.

First held in 2006, the conference has become an important platform for Guizhou's integration of tourism and related industrial sectors as well as promoting the sustainable growth of Guizhou's tourism economy.

As the tourism industry recovers, Guizhou is striving to develop world-class tourist attractions and scenic spots and become a world-class tourist destination.

Guizhou is home to five World Heritage sites, nine national 5A-level scenic spots, 143 national 4A-level scenic spots, 42 resort areas above provincial level, 18 national parks of China, and 32 national forest parks.

Guizhou is focusing on scenic spots, accommodation, catering, commodities, performing arts and entertainment, industrial innovation, and culture-tourism integration to upgrade its nine national 5A level scenic spots, Xijiang One-thousand-household Miao Village, Wanfenglin Scenic Spot and two national tourist resorts.

According to data released in February 2022, the growth rate in the number of tourists visiting Guizhou was close to the national average, and the growth in tourism revenue was slightly higher than the national average.

At scenic spots and beautiful rural areas in Guizhou, the number of homestays increased by five-fold over the last three years to 15,000, giving Guizhou the fastest homestay growth rate of any province in China.

As transportation conditions improve, Guizhou's 88 counties and districts now have expressway service areas with charging piles, all national 5A-level scenic spots have 5G coverage, and a number of tourist service centers, parking lots and toilets have been constructed or renovated.

Guizhou is making full use of its tourism industry, policies and market to increase domestic tourism to the province as well as exploring the international market.
