The digital economy is booming in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, boosting the high-quality development of the city, according to local media reports.

In recent years, the Horinger New Area has used its competitive advantages as an industrial hub to support the construction of new-generation information infrastructure while accelerating the introduction of various big data and cloud computing infrastructure projects.

Located in Horinger New Area, the Inner Mongolia HPC Public Service (Qingcheng Light) was developed with an investment of 300 million yuan ($43.54 million).

Since it began operating, it has had more than 100 customers and more than 200 projects, including scientific research calculations in meteorology, aerospace, new materials, biomedicine and other fields.

It has become the largest public service platform for high-performance computing in North China, simultaneously meeting the needs of high-end scientific computing and large-scale AI training.

Moving forward, the new area will continue to give full play to its advantages. This will enable it to develop into a green computing power center to help fulfill the national strategy of channeling computing resources from east to west – as well as pave the way for it to become the "China Cloud Valley".
