Changsha's Foreign Trade up 32.7% in First Two Months

Changsha's total import and export value hit 57.65 billion yuan in the first two months of this year, an increase of 32.7% year on year, according to statistics from the Xingsha Customs. Exports rose 44% to 42.49 billion yuan, while imports increased 9% to 15.16 billion yuan.

In the January-February period, private enterprises were the main force driving Changsha's foreign trade growth. Imports and exports by private enterprises in Changsha came in at 49.93 billion yuan, accounting for more than 80% of the city's total .

Changsha's trade with ASEAN, the EU and the United States increased substantially. In the first two months, Changsha's trade with ASEAN reached 14.85 billion yuan, up 59.4% year on year. During this period, Changsha's trade with the EU reached 5.98 billion yuan, up 29.4%. Meanwhile, imports and exports between Changsha and the United States amounted to 5.92 billion yuan, up 37.6%.

In the first two months, mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products, and steel were major exports. Changsha's exports of mechanical and electrical products rose 51.4% year on year to 19.09 billion yuan, accounting for 44.9% of the city's total export value. Exports of steel sheet were 2.64 billion yuan, up 10.3 times year-on-year. Exports of plastic products reached 1.91 billion yuan, up 91.6% year on year.
