The Information Office of the Shandong Provincial Government held the fifth news conference on "Unswervingly Promoting High-Quality Development" on Feb 15 to introduce the current situation and interpret the "Three-Year Action Plan (2023-25) for the Construction of Green, Low-Carbon and High-quality Development Pioneering Areas in Shandong Province" and the "Key Tasks for the Construction of the Green, Low-Carbon and High-quality Development Pioneering Areas in Shandong Province in 2023".
Shandong has set up 116 development goals and specific tasks in 12 aspects.
In August 2022, the State Council issued the "Opinions on Supporting Shandong to Deepen the Transformation of Old and New Growth Drivers to Promote Green, Low-Carbon, and High-quality Development".
Wang Dong, deputy director of the Shandong Development and Reform Commission, said: "The mission entrusted to Shandong is a historical milestone. It injects strong impetus into the speeding up of the construction of a modern socialist province in the new era."
The three-year action plan proposes 10 key tasks including promoting high-level technological self-reliance and constructing a national innovation center, realizing the transformation of kinetic energy, boosting carbon and pollution reduction and green growth and creating a model for rural revitalization.
Tasks for this year include carrying out the innovation-driven development strategy, expanding domestic demand and implementing the national strategy on the Yellow River.
Major projects are establishing solid support and strong guarantees for the construction of the pilot zone. Shandong has mapped out a list of 3,186 major projects with a total investment of 8.45 trillion yuan ($1.22 trillion) in the first year of the three-year action plan.
