A delegation consisting of business and trading enterprises –based in Northeast China's Jilin province – set off for South Korea on Dec 17, aiming to attract more investment, according to local media reports.

More than 40 people from 17 foreign trading companies in the province and departments in the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture in Jilin and in the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone – in Changchun, capital of Jilin – will be active.

They will conduct in-depth discussions with various interested associations and enterprises in South Korea, focusing on food, chemicals, environmental protection materials, warehousing and logistics, and cultural tourism.

During their stay, the delegation will visit the Korea Import and Export Association and the Trade Association to jointly promote the further expansion of commerce and trade between China and South Korea.

The aim is for more Jilin foreign trade companies to do more business with South Korean companies – in importing South Korean daily necessities, food and cosmetics and exporting local specialties, daily necessities, textiles, wood products, mineral water and other products. It's also hoped that they will jointly build cross-border e-commerce overseas warehouses.

Next week, Jilin province will organize a delegation of commerce and trade enterprises to go to Russia, Japan and other Northeast Asian regions.

They will carry out business matchmaking exchanges and launch investment promotions activities targeting countries and regions – such as Germany, France, Austria, the US, RCEP trade pact partners, Northern Europe, as well as back home in Hong Kong and Macao – to boost commerce and trade.

The China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, as an important platform for trade and business with South Korea in the province, plans to promote 10 key projects there. Those companies involved include LG Chem, SK, CJ, Samsung C&T and other well-known South Korean companies.
