Zhu Yi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that sticking to green and low-carbon development is a crucial way of tackling climate challenge and accelerating the country's dual carbon goals of seeing carbon dioxide emissions peak by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

Foreign businesses are important fixtures in Shanghai and have made great contributions to the city's economic development, Zhu added. She hoped they could continue to introduce advanced technology and experience from overseas, and play an active and guiding role in the city's green and low-carbon development.

In August, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce organized a case collection activity centering on green and low-carbon development. The activity received 66 cases from 56 foreign businesses, covering green and low-carbon initiatives manufacturing, architecture and transportation, energy, consumption, and technology.

Based on these, a report on the green and low-carbon development of foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai was released at the conference.

Representatives of companies heralded for their excellent cases, like Covestro, Eaton, Evonik, Shui On and Ikea, shared their green and low-carbon experiences.
