A center to study legal issues involving winter sports was set up on Thursday in Zhangjiakou, the city in Hebei province that successfully co-hosted the 2022 Winter Games with Beijing earlier this year.

It was jointly established by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Hebei Provincial High People's Court, with a focus on exploring rules and remedies for solving disputes involving winter sports, according to a statement released by the Supreme People's Court, the country's top court.

Meanwhile, the center will also help to serve and to accelerate economic development post-Olympics, in an effort to create a winter sports cluster.

Legal seminars and exchanges on winter sports will be held regularly at the center, the statement said, adding that some 40 departments nationwide, including courts and sports research institutions, have become members.
