Twin girls who were born weighing less than 500 grams have gone home after more than four months of treatment at a hospital in Fujian province. [Photo by Zhang Shuai/For chinadaily.com.cn]

The hospital designated a team to make individualized plans for the treatment of the twins, including the protection of their lungs and brains, prevention of serious complications and feeding.

The hospital also provided guidance for the girls' parents about how how to take care of them at home.

"All the medical staff participating in the treatment were very happy for their health and reuniting with their parents," Zhang said.
