People valued Ding ware because it was rare to see ceramics taking on pure-white glaze after firing. Usually, the color would turn green after firing.

An exhibit of Ding ware was unveiled on June 21 at the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. A total of 294 pieces of Ding ceramics including shards and firing tools are on view. The exhibit will run until Sept 20.
