Starting Sunday, some makeshift hospitals in Jilin city, Jilin province, will be cleared and closed down, officials said on Monday.

A total of 192 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 236 asymptomatic carriers were discharged from hospitals or quarantine on Sunday, Wang Bin, deputy director of the city's health commission, said at a news conference.

"For the 10th consecutive day, the number of new confirmed cases was less than the number of patient discharged," he said. "Three areas have been adjusted from medium-risk for COVID-19 to low-risk, leaving 37 medium-risk areas in the city as of Sunday."

The city reached zero-COVID status at the community level on Friday after 37 days of efforts to control the novel coronavirus outbreak since the recent round of the epidemic broke out on March 2.

Jilin province reported 171 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 598 asymptomatic carriers on Sunday, the provincial Health Commission said on Tuesday.

Of the confirmed cases, 81 were found in Changchun, 82 in Jilin city and eight in Baicheng. Of the asymptomatic carriers, 570 were identified in Changchun, 25 in Jilin city and three in Liaoyuan.

As of 6 pm on Sunday, 94,381 farmers who had been stranded in the cities of Changchun and Jilin had been transported home under a plan to get plowing underway.

"Spring plowing in the province has entered the key stage, and government departments are making efforts to ensure its smooth progress," said Xia Ji, deputy director of the provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs, at a Tuesday news conference. "So far, available seed, fertilizer and pesticide basically achieved the same level as last year."
