Popular science forum held at Xi'an Gaoxin No.1 Experimental High School

Huang Ling, a leading young scientist and part-time professor at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University, attended a dialogue on artificial intelligence with students at Xi'an Gaoxin No.1 Experimental High School in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi province, via video link on April 29.

The dialogue, also known as the popular science forum, was co-hosted by iFLYTEK, a Hefei-based AI and speech-technology giant, and the Future Science Forum in order to promote science among young people and inspire them to pursue careers in the area.Huang spoke with teachers and students about the application of artificial intelligence in the financial sector. He said that science is full of unknowns and that it is the basic obligation and fundamental mission for scientists to make endless efforts in academic learning, scientific exploration and innovation.

Huang answered questions concerning smart finance, intelligent speech and quantum mechanics and encouraged the attendees to stay focused in their learning, remain true to their original aspirations and constantly hone their learning and thinking capabilities.

Peng Mengming, vice-president of the iFLYTEK's Shaanxi branch, shared an understanding of scientists' dream of building China into a strong and prosperous nation and hoped that the event can help all students plant a seed of science and innovation in their heart.

The dialogue is the first forum of its kind to be held this year. It has received a warm response from elementary and middle school students across the country since it was inaugurated five years ago.
