Zhuhai, Macao airports team for integrated aviation development

Zhuhai Aviation City & Airport Group signed a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership agreement with Macao International Airport on April 14 to bolster the integrated development of the aviation industry between Zhuhai and Macao. 

As part of the agreement, Zhuhai and Macao airports will cooperate in airport business services, industrial integration and development, general aviation construction and operation, as well as in management of the airspace between both cities.

New cooperation models in airport construction and management will be set up, while cooperation in passenger services, cargo logistics, as well as ground support will be enhanced, according to the agreement.

The two sides will aggregate aviation industrial resources to formulate a high-end Zhuhai-Macao aviation industrial cluster with further cooperation in projects like aircraft maintenance and modification, aviation parts manufacturing, exhibitions, and training.

Cooperation in general aviation construction and operation is a vital part of the agreement. Advantages in general aviation construction, operation, talent, as well as industrial resources of Zhuhai and Macao airports will be given full play in the construction of a demonstration base on general aviation in Zhuhai. The two sides will team up in areas like cross-border helicopter transport, business aircrafts' fix-based operation and maintenance, short-distance transport, youth training bases, and low-air travel.

In addition, the two sides will join hands in promoting the management of the Zhuhai and Macao airspace. They will coordinate with relevant departments of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao to establish an airspace management communication mechanism to get more airspace resources.
