A charter cold-chain train departed from Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on April 11 and will arrive at Shanghai's Yanpu Station after a 50-hour travel time to help Shanghai in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The train is loaded with 40,000 packages donated by Guangxi for Shanghai residents, with each package consisting of four packaged Liuzhou river snail rice noodles, 400 grams of granulated sugar, a Lipu taro, as well as one kilogram each of carrots, sweet corn, tomatoes, kidney beans, and tangerines.

Yang Chunting, director of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, noted that these supplies weigh 280 metric tons and that the preparation process, which included picking, inspection, sorting, as well as packaging, only took 10 hours.

"We arranged staff members to package the supplies in boxes to make it more convenient for Shanghai residents when distributing the packages, relieving their work pressure," added Yang.

The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce will follow up the transportation and distribution of these supplies, making sure that they reach Shanghai residents.
